Miles Ahead: a motorcycle odyssey

Miles Ahead tells the story of a 17,000 kilometre-long journey on a 40 year-old Italian Moto Guzzi motorcycle from Chile to New York.

Transported on his classic Moto Guzzi motorbike and without any knowledge of mechanics, Amsterdam-based entrepreneur Max Wohlgemuth Kitslaar decided to cross the Americas on a journey of self-discovery, to help reveal the human face of a continent. Six months through snowstorms and deserts, in the footsteps of Kerouac and Che Guevarra. Along the way Max visited forty companies working towards a better world.

“Miles Ahead is a truly inspiring book”

Travel book about companies working towards a better world

Being an entrepreneur himself, along the way Max visited 32 inspiring entrepreneurs in six countries who are working towards a better world while offering a profitable and positive alternative. Such as a rapidly growing Peruvian startup that trains young women between the ages of 18 and 28 from the city’s urban slums to become web developers. Or a Colombian multinational restaurant chain that pays fair prices to support small-scale farmers in switching to organic farming practice in areas that have been depleted by industrial farming. The result is a series of inspiring meetings with people who roll up their sleeves and demonstrate the business acumen to combine profitability with a social mission.
